From time to time, you will perform basic maintenance on your car. Such tasks will require you to open the hood of your car. Opening the hood of a car should be a simple task, but if you haven’t done it before, it can be daunting. Below are the steps to open a GMC Sierra hood.
2014 – 2022 Models
- Open the driver’s side door of the vehicle.
- Locate the lever below the steering wheel. It has a picture of a car with an open hood.
- Pull the lever until it clicks.
- Outside, slide your hand under the hood from the left side, and push the lever to the right. This releases the secondary lock on the hood.
- Lift the hood until it stops. The hood will stay open on its own.
1999 – 2013 Models
- Open the driver’s side door of the vehicle.
- Locate the lever on the lower part of the door frame with a picture of a car with an open hood.
- Pull the lever until it clicks.
- Outside, slide your hand under the hood from the left side, and push the lever to the right. This releases the secondary lock on the hood.
- Lift the hood, then use the prop rod to support it.
