Ford Police Interceptor: How to Perform Oil Reset

The computer system in the Ford Police Interceptor will display a “Change Engine Oil Soon” message to remind you when maintenance is due. Once service has been completed on the vehicle, you can perform an oil reset on the system using these steps.


2021 Models

  1. Turn the ignition to the “On” position. Press the “OK” button on the steering wheel to dismiss any notifications that appear on the display.
  2. Use the arrows on the steering wheel to navigate through items on the display, and go to “Settings“.
  3. Choose “Information“.
  4. Select “Oil Life“.
  5. Press and hold the “OK” button until the oil life resets to 100%.

2013-2020 Models

Sedan

  1. Turn the ignition to the “On” position. Press the “OK” button on the steering wheel to dismiss any notifications that appear on the display.
  2. Use the arrows on the steering wheel to navigate through items on the display, and go to “Settings“.
  3. Select “Convenience“.
  4. Select “Oil Life Reset“.
  5. Press and hold “OK” until the oil life resets to 100%.

Utility

  1. Turn the ignition to the “On” position. Press the “OK” button on the steering wheel to dismiss any notifications that appear on the display.
  2. Use the arrows on the steering wheel to navigate through items on the display, and go to “Settings“.
  3. Choose “Vehicle“.
  4. Select “Oil Life Reset“.
  5. Press and hold “OK” until the oil life resets to 100%.

Hybrid

  1. Press the “Engine Start/Stop” button once to turn on the electronics. Do not start the engine.
  2. Press the “OK” button on the steering wheel to dismiss any notifications that appear on the display.
  3. Use the arrows on the steering wheel to navigate through items on the display, and go to “Settings“.
  4. Select “Information“.
  5. Select “Oil Life“.
  6. Press and hold the “Brake” and “Gas” Pedals simultaneously until the Oil Life resets to 100%. This should take about 20 seconds to complete.

That’s it. You have successfully completed an oil reset on the Ford Police Interceptor.
