If you need to access the engine, you’ll need to know how to open the hood. Follow the steps below to open the hood of a Ford Police Interceptor.
1992 – 2023 Models
- Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is turned off.
- Locate the hood release lever on the driver’s side footwell area.
- Pull the hood release lever to release the hood latch.
- Go to the front of the vehicle and locate the hood latch under the hood.
- Lift the hood latch lever and raise the hood. You may need to press down on the hood to release the secondary latch.
- Secure the hood with the prop rod, which is usually located on the underside of the hood.
