Ford Focus: How to Connect a Phone

2018-2023 Model

  1. Open the settings app on your phone and turn the Bluetooth on.
  2. Touch the phone icon on the radio’s touchscreen of your Ford Focus. On the display menu that appears, click on Add device.
  3. A pop-up message will prompt you to discover other Bluetooth devices. Click on this message to accept. Touch ‘continue to go on with the process.
  4. The car will discover your phone and appear on the screen. Click on the phone to pair your phone and car.
  5. PIN will appear on your phone as well as the car. Ensure the numbers match and click pair on both the vehicle and phone.
  6. A pop-up message will ask if you want the car to access your contacts. If you will make calls through your phone, touch the Allow button. You do not have to allow the vehicle to access your contacts; you can use the connected phone to listen to music.

2013-2017 Model

  1. Press the phone button on the right side of the radio. On the small screen, a notification showing no phone has been paired will appear.
  2. Go to add Bluetooth device using the UP and DOWN arrows. Press OK. On the screen, a message will display ‘SYNC.’
  3. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
  4. On the radio, press OK, and a SYNC message will appear.
  5. Look at your phone, and you will see that it has searched for SYNC. Touch on SYNC to pair.
  6. Your phone will request you to enter a PIN. Look at the screen on your car, and enter the number you see displayed there. Click pair.
  7. Your phone and car are now connected. You can now go ahead and set your phone as the primary phone, download your phonebook, and other settings.

2007-2012 Model

  1. Press the phone button on the right side of your car’s radio.
  2. A message on the small screen will appear indicating no phone has been paired.
  3. Go to add a Bluetooth device using the UP and DOWN buttons of the seek track button.
  4. Turn the Bluetooth of your phone ON by going to the settings app.
  5. On your car, press the OK button on the left side of your vehicle. Press OK again to get the name SYNC displayed on the screen.
  6. Press SYNC on your phone, and enter the PIN on your car’s screen.
  7. Click pair on your phone and OK on your vehicle. You are now connected.

Phone Connection for Earlier Models

Earlier For models were not Bluetooth compatible. The phone could, however, be connected to the car using an Aux cable. The aux port is located in the glove compartment of the vehicle. It should be at the top part of the glove compartment.
