Ford Explorer: Connect a Phone

2020 – 2022 Models

  1. Ensure the Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
  2. Ensure the vehicle is in the accessory position.
  3. Navigate to the Bluetooth Sync menu and select the phone button.
  4. Click on Add BT Device.
  5. You will receive a prompt on your device to confirm the connection with your Ford Explorer.
  6. Confirm the unique pin and Press OK.
  7. The devices will pair, and you’ll receive a prompt on the screen confirming the connection.

2016 – 2019 Models

  1. Ensure the Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
  2. Press the phone 📞 button on the SYNC screen.
  3. Press OK and select Add Device.
  4. Press OK to start pairing the device.
  5. Press OK on the search prompt that will be displayed. The screen will also display the six-digit passcode.
  6. Click the confirmation prompt sent to your phone and enter the six digits passcode.
  7. Another prompt will indicate that the phone is connected to the Sync system.
  8. Press OK to leave the phone menu.

2011-2015 Models

  1. Ensure the Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
  2. Press the phone 📞 button and Press OK.
  3. Press OK again to start the connection.
  4. Select add a phone to your SYNC multimedia system.
  5. The system will display a unique passcode.
  6. Select the Ford Sync system on your phone. Then, enter the unique code displayed on the multimedia.
  7. Click pair, and the two devices will start connecting.
  8. Press OK to connect to the primary phone.
  9. Your Ford Explorer and the phone will connect to Bluetooth.
