2016 – 2022 Models
Depending on your issue, you should perform a soft, hard, or master reset on the SYNC 3 system.
Soft Reset
- Press and hold both the Power and Seek Up (>>|) buttons for five seconds.
- The screen should turn dark, and you can release the buttons.
- Please be patient as the system is restored to its original state.
Hard Reset
- Disconnect power to the SYNC module when the ignition is turned off. You may do this by removing the battery from the car or unplugging the large 54-pin connection at the module’s rear.
- After a minute and a half, reconnect the power.
- Turn on the ignition for your vehicle and wait for the system to finish booting up.
Master Reset
- Press the Settings button in the feature bar at the bottom of the screen.
- Click the gear icon to access General Settings.
- Press Master Reset.
- A notification will appear indicating that all system settings will be deleted and reverted to the factory defaults. Press Continue.
- After the system shuts down, a message will appear, stating that the system is “Resetting to factory settings.” Then the screen will go blank.
- The system may need a few minutes to reset before it can resume regular function.
2012 – 2015 Models
- To access the menu, tap the Sync button.
- Once the Sync settings menu appears on the screen, hold the down 🔽 arrow button again, then press OK.
- While holding down the down arrow button, wait for the Master Reset message to appear on the screen.
- A prompt will appear, indicating that all system settings will be deleted and reverted to the factory default. Tap confirm to reset the system.
