Ford Focus: Programming a New Key Fob

No more purchasing high-cost key fobs from the dealership as those days are gone, thanks to this awesome new innovative trick. You can reprogram your own Key Fob/Remote in a matter of minutes. This can also be executed the same way for most Ford models with either 3 or 4 buttons on the remote. Begin with all doors closed and your feet off of the brake and accelerator. Then perform the following short steps:

2015 – 2023 Models

To start, you will need 2 already programmed keys and a new key fob to program. If you do not possess 2 programmed fobs, you cannot program a new fob. Only an authorized dealer can achieve this.
  1. Place the key in the ignition and turn it to the “On” position to activate the vehicle.
  2. For approximately 15 seconds, press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the key fob.
  3. Place the ignition key on the control panel’s “Off” position.
  4. Hold the lock and unlock buttons on the key fob for the next minute and a half.
  5. Place the ignition key in the “On” position before starting the vehicle.
  6. At this point, the new key fob should have been programmed and ready to be used.
