Fiat 500: How to Reset TPMS

Fiat 500 comes in three models, each of which is separated by generations:

  • First generation (pre-2011)
  • Second generation (2012–2019)
  • Third generation (2020–present)

We’ll look into how to reset the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) for each generation.

2020 – 2023 Models

  1. Ensure that you or someone else have inflated all tires to the correct pressure.
  2. Run the engine for at least two minutes after starting it.
  3. On the infotainment system, select “Car.”
  4. Select “Vehicle Info” via the touch screen.
  5. Select “Tire Pressure” from the screen, then choose “Calibrate.”
  6. Finish the calibration procedure by adhering to the on-screen directions.
  7. Turn off the engine and restart the vehicle once the calibration is finished.
  8. The TPMS warning light should go out, and the TPMS system should be reset.

2012 – 2019 Models

  1. Ensure that the recommended pressure is met for each tire.
  2. Turn the ignition’s position to “ON/RUN,” but don’t start the engine.
  3. When you hear a beep, press and hold the TPMS button on the dashboard to the right of the steering wheel.
  4. Release the TPMS button. The system will switch to relearn mode, as shown by the TPMS warning light beginning to flash.
  5. For at least 20 minutes, drive the car at a speed greater than 15 mph (25 km/h). The TPMS system will relearn the settings for the tire pressure at this time.

Note: The relearn procedure should result in the TPMS warning light going out. If the above steps don’t work for you, it is advised to send the car to a technician for additional evaluation and repair if the light does not go out, as there may be a systemic issue.

Pre-2011 Models

Since a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) was not included as standard equipment on the Fiat 500 during its first generation, there is no specific process for resetting the TPMS on this model.

If you have retrofitted an aftermarket TPMS system installed on your model, it’s important to keep in mind that some might not be compatible with your first-generation Fiat 500 or might not meet the same standards as the original equipment, which could lead to inaccurate or unreliable tire pressure readings. It is advised to have a skilled technician inspect and maintain the system in such circumstances.
