If you need to access your engine compartment, you need to know how to open the hood of your Fiat 500. Follow the steps below.
Pre-2011 – 2023 Models
- Locate the hood release lever on the driver’s side of the dashboard, near the bottom of the instrument panel.
- Pull the hood release lever towards you. You should hear a popping sound indicating the hood release has been activated.
- Go to the front of the car and look for the hood latch. It is located near the center of the hood, just above the Fiat emblem.
- Press down on the hood latch and lift the hood simultaneously.
- Use the support rod on the hood’s underside to prop it up and keep it open.
Safety Tips
- If the hood is not properly closed, once the engine is on, it will indicate on the system check that it is open.
- When investigating anything under your hood, ensure your engine is switched off and cold.
