Learn how to reset the oil change light on the Ford Explorer using these steps.
2020-2022 Models
- Using the directional pad on the left side of the steering wheel, select “Settings“.
- Select “Oil Life“.
- Press and hold the “OK” button.
2016-2019 Models
- Using the directional pad on the left side of the steering wheel, select “Settings“.
- Choose “Vehicle“.
- Select “Oil Life Reset“.
- Press and hold the “OK” button.
2011-2015 Models
These models will display a “Change Engine Oil Soon” message when the oil life is 10% or less. It will display an “Oil Change Required” message when oil life reaches 0%.
- Using the directional pad on the left side of the steering wheel, select “Settings“.
- Choose “Convenience“.
- Select “Oil Life Reset“.
- Press and hold the “OK” button.
2002-2010 Models
- Turn the ignition to the ON position. Do not start the engine.
- Press and release the “Select/Reset” stem button on the instrument panel to toggle the options until the “Hold Reset For Setup Menu” option appears.
- Press and hold “Select/Reset” for 3 seconds. (The display will not change on this step)
- Press “Select/Reset” to toggle the options until the “Hold Reset if New Oil” option appears.
- Press and hold “Select/Reset” until it says “Oil Life Set to 100%“.
2001 and Earlier Models
- Turn the ignition to the ON position. Do not start the engine.
- Press the “Oil Change Reset” button on the overhead Instrument panel for 5 seconds.
After a brief countdown, the Oil Life will be reset.
