Every car owner/driver must perform some basic car maintenance jobs. For example, the car owner/driver should check the oil and add window washer fluid. Each of these tasks requires opening the hood. Below are directions for opening the hood on a Dodge Ram.
2009 – 2023 Models
- Pull the lever under the dash below the steering wheel.
- Exit the vehicle and walk to the front.
- Slide your hand under the hood near the center.
- Push the safety catch to the left.
- Lift the hood.
2006 – 2008 Models
- Pull the lever under the dash below the steering wheel.
- Exit the vehicle and walk to the front.
- Slide your hand under the grill near the center, below the Ram symbol.
- Push the safety catch up.
- Lift the hood.
Closing the Hood: When closing the hood, do not slam it shut. Slamming the hood can cause damage to your car. Lower the hood down and press firmly to engage both latches.
