Dodge Durango: How to Open Trunk

No one buys a car without the intention to use the trunk. Sometimes it can be confusing to find the button for opening the trunk. Below are directions for opening the trunk of a Dodge Durango.

2010 – 2023 Models

Manually (No Power Liftgate)

1. Unlock the car using the fob.
2. Pull on the handle next to the license plate and lift it open.

Passive Entry

1. If your fob has a Passive Entry transmitter, have the fob within 3 ft. of the trunk.
2. Press the button on the right side of the chrome accent bar.
3. Lift the trunk open.

Fob (With Power Liftgate)

1. Press the liftgate button on the fob 2x.
2. The liftgate will open on its own.

Inside the Vehicle (With Power Liftgate)

1. Press the liftgate button on the center overhead console.
2. The liftgate will open on its own.

Manually (With Power Liftgate)

1. Pull on the handle next to the license plate.
2. The liftgate will open on its own.

2006 – 2008 Models

Fob (No Power Liftgate)

1. Press the liftgate button on the fob 2x.
2. Pull on the handle next to the license plate and lift it open.

Manually (No Power Liftgate)

1. Unlock the car using the fob.
2. Pull on the handle next to the license plate and lift it open.

Fob (With Power Liftgate)

1. Press the liftgate button on the fob twice.
2. The liftgate will open on its own.

Inside the Vehicle (With Power Liftgate)

1. Press the liftgate button on the center overhead console.
2. The liftgate will open on its own.

Manually (With Power Liftgate)

1. Pull on the handle next to the license plate and lift it open.
2. The liftgate will open on its own.

1997 – 2005 Models

1. Unlock the car using the fob.
2. Pull on the handle next to the license plate and lift it open.

or

1. Insert key into locking mechanism.
2. Unlock the liftgate.
3. Pull the handle and lift the trunk open.
