Car owners/drivers should not expect mechanics or dealerships to do every bit of maintenance. There are some things the owners/drivers can do on their own. Usually, such maintenance tasks require opening the hood. For example, car owners/drivers should check the oil, refill the window washer fluid, and perhaps do some basic repairs.
If car owners/drivers do not perform these basic tasks, it can affect how well the car will run. Below are directions for opening the hood of a Dodge Durango.
1997 – 2023 Models
- Pull the lever under the dash on the left side.
- Exit the vehicle and walk to the front.
- Slide your hand under the hood near the center.
- Push the safety catch to the left.
- Lift the hood. The hood will remain open on its own.
Closing the Hood: When closing the hood, do not slam it shut. Slamming the hood can cause damage to your car. Lower the hood down and press firmly to engage both latches.
