Cars need continuous maintenance to keep them in good running order. Sometimes that maintenance must be performed by the owner/driver of the car. For example, you can check the oil or add window washer fluid. These examples and other maintenance jobs require opening the hood.
Below are directions for opening the hood on a Dodge Dart.
2013 – 2016 Models
- Pull the lever under the dash. The lever will be on the left side.
- Exit the vehicle and walk to the front.
- Slide your hand under the hood near the center.
- Push the safety catch to the left.
- Lift the hood.
- Pull the hood prop rod up from its stowage retainer.
- Place the rod in the hood slot to keep the hood open.
Closing the Hood
When closing the hood, do not slam it shut. Slamming the hood can cause damage to your car. Lower the hood down and press firmly to engage both latches.
