Dodge Charger: Start Car with Low or Dead Remote Battery

The Dodge Charger has a wireless key fob that allows you to lock and unlock the doors and even start the car without a key.  This can sometimes be a problem if the battery in the key fob is low or dead.  When this happens, the display on the instrument panel may display a message that say “No Remote Detected” or “Replace Battery in Remote Key“.

2020 – 2023 Models

If you don’t have a CR2032 battery available to replace the one in the remote, you can still unlock the doors and start the car.

  1. To unlock the driver’s door, you’ll need to remove the key hidden in the fob. Flip the fob over.
  2. Slide the switch in the top left, and pull out the silver key.
  3. Use the key to unlock the door. Then replace the key in the fob.
  4. With your foot on the brake, push the start button with the fob.

 

2011 – 2019 Models

  1. The fob battery is low or dead if the engine does not start when pushing the button.
  2. Place the nose side of the Fob (opposite end from the emergency key) against the Start/Stop button.
  3. Push the Start/Stop button.
