How to open the hood is an important thing to know. It does not matter if you are a mechanic or not. There are basic maintenance tasks that you need to be able to perform. For example, you need to be able to check the oil, add oil, and add window washer fluid, among other things.
Below are the directions on how to open the hood of a Dodge Avenger. This process is not complex. As long as you follow the steps, you will be fine.
2008 – 2014 Models
- Pull the hood release lever under the left side of the dash.
- Walk to the front of the vehicle.
- Slide a hand under the hood near the center.
- Push the safety catch toward the passenger side of the car.
- Lift the hood.
1995 – 2000 Models
- Pull the hood release lever under the left side of the dash.
- Walk to the front of the vehicle.
- Slide a hand under the hood near the center.
- Push the safety catch up.
- Lift the hood.
Closing the Hood
When closing the hood, do not slam it down. Slamming the hood can cause damage to your car. Lower the hood down and then press firmly down to engage both latches.
