How to Enable/Disable Child Safety Locks on the Chevy Cruze

Use this tutorial to learn how to operate the child safety locks on rear passenger doors of the Chevy Cruze.

2016 to 2019 Models

  1. Open your rear doors and locate a small lever inside the door.
  2. Move the lever forward to the locked position.
  3. Close the door.
  4. Repeat the same steps on your other door.

Disable the Child Safety Locks: When the safety locks are in place, the door cannot be opened from the inside.

2014 – 2015 Models

  1. Press the X button on your side panel next to the power window controls.
  2. Activating this feature also disables the rear door power windows.
  3. Press the X button again to turn the child safety locks off.

2008 – 2013 Models

Simply use the child safety lock button located on the driver’s side door. When the button is illuminated, the child safety locks are turned on.

    • @veronica – I have heard this is a common issue on the older models. I think you might have to have a tech fix it.
