The Chevy Traverse will display a “Change Engine Oil Soon” message on the instrument panel about every 3,000 miles to remind you that maintenance service is needed. Once you have had the oil changed, you can perform an oil reset on the system using these steps.

2018-2021 Models
Option 1
- Turn the ignition to “On“. Do not start the engine.
- Use the arrow pad on the steering wheel to move to the “Vehicle” tab.
- Use the ▲▼ arrows to display the “Remaining Oil Life“.
- With the Remaining Oil Life displayed, press and hold the ✔️ button until the display shows “Are you sure that you want to reset?“.
- Use the ▲▼ arrows to highlight “Yes“, then press ✔️ to complete the oil reset.
Option 2
- Turn the ignition to “On“. Do not start the engine.
- Slowly press the accelerator pedal all the way down 3 times within 5 seconds.
2009-2017 Models
Models with the Driver Information Center
- Turn the ignition to “On“. Do not start the engine. Also ensure the gear is placed in “P/Park“.
- Press the “Vehicle Info” button located on the center console repeatedly until the “Oil Life” is displayed.
- Press and hold the “OK” or ✔️ button until the Oil Life resets to 100%.
Models without Driver Information Center
- Turn the ignition to “On“. Do not start the engine.
- Press and hold the “Trip” stem button, located on the instrument panel to toggle the display to show “Oil Life Remaining“.
- Press and hold the “Trip” stem button until the display shows “Oil Life Remaining” shows as 100%.
