Perplexed as to how to open the trunk on the Chevy Malibu? That extra trunk space can make a big difference to your storage options. Here’s how it’s done.

2016 – 2023 Models

1. Ensure the gear is shifted to “P” (Park), or the vehicle is off.
2. Unlock all of the doors.
3. Do one of the following:
   • Double-press the “HOLD” Trunk button rapidly 2 times on the wireless remote.
   • Press the touchpad on the back of the trunk under the rear Chevy logo.

2013 – 2015 Models

Fob

1. Press the Trunk Open button on the fob.

Inside the Vehicle

1. Locate the lever on the floor of the driver’s side or the driver’s side door.
2. Lift the lever.

Outside the Vehicle

1. Unlock the car.
2. Press the trunk button next to the light in the center of the trunk.

2008 – 2012 Models

Fob

1. Press the Trunk Open button on the fob.

Inside the Vehicle

1. Locate the button on the driver’s side door.
2. Press the trunk button.

2005 – 2007 Models

Fob

1. Press the Trunk Open button on the fob.

Inside the Vehicle

1. Locate the button on the driver’s side door.
2. Press the trunk button.

Outside the Vehicle

1. Walk to the back of the vehicle.
2. Insert the key into the lock and turn.

2001 – 2004 Models

Fob

1. Press the Trunk Open button on the fob.

Inside the Vehicle

1. Press the trunk button on the lower left-hand side of the dash.

Outside the Vehicle

1. Walk to the back of the vehicle.
2. Insert the key into the lock and turn.

1999 – 2000 Models

Inside the Vehicle

1. Press the trunk button on the lower left-hand side of the dash.

Outside the Vehicle

1. Walk to the back of the vehicle.
2. Insert the key into the lock and turn.
