Perplexed as to how to open the trunk on the Chevy Malibu? That extra trunk space can make a big difference to your storage options. Here’s how it’s done.

2016 – 2023 Models
- Ensure the gear is shifted to “P” (Park), or the vehicle is off.
- Unlock all of the doors.
- Do one of the following:
- Double-press the “HOLD” Trunk button rapidly 2 times on the wireless remote.
- Press the touchpad on the back of the trunk under the rear Chevy logo.
2013 – 2015 Models
Fob
- Press the Trunk Open button on the fob.
Inside the Vehicle
- Locate the lever on the floor of the driver’s side or the driver’s side door.
- Lift the lever.
Outside the Vehicle
- Unlock the car.
- Press the trunk button next to the light in the center of the trunk.
2008 – 2012 Models
Fob
- Press the Trunk Open button on the fob.
Inside the Vehicle
- Locate the button on the driver’s side door.
- Press the trunk button.
2005 – 2007 Models
Fob
- Press the Trunk Open button on the fob.
Inside the Vehicle
- Locate the button on the driver’s side door.
- Press the trunk button.
Outside the Vehicle
- Walk to the back of the vehicle.
- Insert the key into the lock and turn.
2001 – 2004 Models
Fob
- Press the Trunk Open button on the fob.
Inside the Vehicle
- Press the trunk button on the lower left-hand side of the dash.
Outside the Vehicle
- Walk to the back of the vehicle.
- Insert the key into the lock and turn.
1999 – 2000 Models
Inside the Vehicle
- Press the trunk button on the lower left-hand side of the dash.
Outside the Vehicle
- Walk to the back of the vehicle.
- Insert the key into the lock and turn.

Did what was suggested. The trunk does not open with key or button. It is a Malibu LT 2015. Help
The trunk did not open and I have no other way to get into my trunk
Same issue. 2015 Replaced Relay K1 and trunk actuator, fuses looked good did not replace yet.
