Chevy Malibu: How to Open the Hood

Learn how to open your Chevy Malibu hood to work on your car.

2005 – 2022 Models

1. Park and turn off your Malibu engine.
2. Locate the first hood release latch. Look for the image of a car with an open hood located on the driver’s side, to the left of the steering column.
3. Pull the hood release latch until you hear the hood pop.
4. Move to the front of the vehicle, and locate the secondary hood release lever directly under the center of the hood.
5. Pull the secondary hood release to the right and carefully raise the hood.
6. Release the hood prop from the retainer and insert it into the holding slot on the underside of the hood frame.
