Learn how to reset the engine oil life in the Chevy HHR by following the steps in this guide.
Option 1 – Via The Gas Pedal
To reset the oil life on the Chevy HHR:
- Turn the key to the ON position. Do NOT start the ignition.
- Press the Gas Pedal FOUR times.
- Turn the key to the OFF position, then back to the ON position.
Warning light should go OFF!
Option 2 – Via The Steering Wheel Controls
- Turn the key to the ON position. Do NOT start the ignition.
- Using the controls on the LEFT side of the steering wheel, press the THIRD button until OIL LIFE reads on the dashboard screen.
- Press in and HOLD both the THIRD and FOURTH/LAST buttons indicated in the image, at the same time.
- Release them when you see OIL LIFE RESET.
- Press the ENTER button (The FOURTH/LAST button) until you see ACKNOWLEDGED.
- Then let go, the screen will read OIL LIFE 100%.
Warning light should be GONE!
**NOTE: If you are unable to reset the oil change notification light on the first try, REPEAT the steps. If you are still unsuccessful, contact the dealership for assistance or consult your vehicle user’s manual.
