Chevy Equinox: How to Enable and Disable Child Safety Locks

Use this tutorial to learn how to operate the child safety locks on the Chevy Equinox.

2018 – 2023 Models

1. Open the rear left door and locate the child safety lock switch on the inside of the door.
2. Turn the switch to the right to enable the child safety lock.
3. To disable the child safety lock, turn the switch to the left.

2016 – 2017 Models

1. Open the rear left door and locate the child safety lock keyhole.
2. Insert the main key in the keyhole and turn clockwise to enable the child safety lock.
3. To disable the child safety lock, turn the key in a counterclockwise direction.
4. Repeat the process on the rear right door to enable or disable the child safety lock.

2011 – 2015 Models

1. Press the child safety lock button on the vehicle dashboard.
2. The button should illuminate to indicate that the rear doors won’t open from the inside.
