Chevy Cruze: Start Car With Low Remote Battery

The Chevy Cruze allows the vehicle to start if the key fob transmitter is in the cab. This can sometimes be a problem if the battery in the key fob is low. When this happens, the display on the instrument panel may display a message that say “No Remote Detected” or “Replace Battery in Remote Key.” When this happens to you, here are your options:

If your remote battery is running low, the best fix is to replace the battery. But if you don’t have a CR2032 battery available to replace the one in the remote, you can still start your vehicle.

2014 – 2023 Models

  1. To start the car with a low battery, place your keyfob in the front cup holder of your car.
  2. Press the on/off button to start the car.

2011 – 2013 Models

  1. These models of the Chevy Cruze DO NOT have remote start capabilities.
