Chevy Impala: How to Open the Trunk
How to Open the Trunk
Impala 2006 – 2012 models
There are definitely two ways to open the trunk of an Impala… some even say there are three! Here’s how to get in:
Method 1
- Have a look at the factory key fob, click the center button (see image above).
- You should hear a “clunk”.
- Move to the rear of the car, the trunk will be jarred. Pull up on the lid lightly, it should stay up from a hydraulic bar on the right.
- When you’re finished, pull down lightly with one hand while supporting with the other.
- When the lid is a few inches from being closed, press down firmly and the lid will clunk shut.
Method 2
- Look to the left of the steering wheel, there’s a set of buttons and knobs on a panel.
- Click the button with the car icon. It’s on the upper right side of the panel (see image above).
NOTE: The third method is entering the trunk from inside the car. Find instructions on how to do this by clicking here!
Chevy Impala: How to Open the Hood
How to Open the Hood
Impala 2006 – 2012 models
Opening the hood to any car feels easy, but there are subtle differences between vehicles. Here’s how to open the hood of an Impala:
- Look down and to the left of the steering wheel. Beside the emergency break you’ll see a lever with a car icon on it (see first image below).
- Grab the lower part of this lever and pull until you hear a “clunk!”
- Move to the front of the car and you’ll notice the hood is slightly jarred. Bend down and check out the area just above the Chevy logo.
- Look for a small metal tab (see second image). Push this tab to the right with one hand while pulling the hood upward with the other.
- The hood will start to lift. If it stops, pull that metal tab right a little bit more.
- The hood will eventually fully open from the power of the hydraulic bar on the right side (see third image).
- When you’re done, slowly pull the hood down with one hand while supporting it with the other.
- When the hood is a few inches from being closed, let go with both hands and it will slam shut!
NOTE: The hydraulic bar will keep the hood open for you, there’s no further action needed to hold the hood!

- Lock or re-lock your car using the FOB.
- Immediately press and hold the circle arrow button for 5 seconds.
- You’ll notice the front and rear blinkers blink twice, in a few moments your Impala will be running!

NOTE: Even if your Impala has been sitting locked in the parking lot all day, you must re-lock it for remote start to work!
NOTE: If you don’t put the key in the ignition (step 4), your Impala will stop running after 10 minutes.
NOTE: Your air condition or heating will run on high until your put your key in the ignition (step 4).
