Audi A4: How to Release/Open Fuel Door

If you’re unfamiliar with a specific car, releasing the fuel door can seem complex. Luckily it only takes a few minutes of practice to get it right. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to release/open the fuel door of an Audi A4.

2019-2023 Models

Follow the steps below:

1. Unlock your car.
2. Push the top-right edge of the fuel door inwards
3. The fuel door will pop open.
4. Turn the gas cap cover counterclockwise to open.
5. After fueling, put the gas cap lid on and turn clockwise to close.
6. Finally, push the fuel door inwards until you hear a pop.

Alternatively:

1. Stand within three feet of your car.
2. Press the unlock button on your key fob.
3. The fuel door will open.
4. Turn the gas cap lid counterclockwise to open.
5. After fueling, put the gas cap lid on and turn clockwise to close.
6. Push the fuel door inwards until you hear a pop.

2008-2018 Models

Follow the steps below:

1. Unlock your car.
2. Push the right edge of the fuel door, the side closest to the taillight, inwards.
3. The fuel door will pop open.
4. Turn the gas cap cover counterclockwise to open.
5. After fueling, put the gas cap lid on and turn clockwise to close.
6. Finally, push the fuel door inwards until you hear a pop.
