Audi A4: How to Connect a Phone

In today’s world, it’s crucial to stay connected to the outside world, especially when on the road. Link your phone to your car’s entertainment system to access your favorite music and even make hands-free calls. This article will guide you step-by-step on how to connect your phone to your Audi A4’s entertainment system, so you can stay connected while driving.

Before you connect your mobile device to the MMI, check the following:

  • The vehicle is stationary
  • The ignition is switched on
  • The Bluetooth settings are open on your device

2018 – 2023 Models

  1. Your phone should not be actively connected to any other Bluetooth device, and the MMI should only be connected to one mobile device at a time.
  2. Enable Bluetooth and visibility on both the MMI and your mobile device.
  3. On the MMI home screen, select PHONE.
  4. Follow the system instructions and wait for the available Bluetooth devices to be displayed.
  5. Select the desired mobile device from the list of displayed Bluetooth devices.
  6. To update the list, press Q.
  7. A secure Bluetooth connection will be generated, and a PIN will display.
  8. Confirm the PIN on your mobile device and follow the system instructions.
  9. Pay attention to any other system prompts on both the MMI and your mobile device.
  10. Your phone should be linked to your Audi A4!

2014 – 2017 Models

  1. Turn the control knob to a cell phone and press the knob.
  2. To pair the cell phone, turn the control knob to Handsfree and press the knob.
  3. A 4-digit PIN will be displayed on the MMI.
  4. If you want to enter the 4-digit PIN that is displayed, select “Yes.”
  5. Enter this PIN into the cell phone within the time limit of 30 seconds.
  6. If you want to enter a 4- to 16-digit PIN of your own, select “No” and enter the PIN using the speller.
  7. Then enter this PIN into the cell phone within 30 seconds.
  8. Confirm the pairing on the cell phone if requested. The Bluetooth symbol will appear in the status line of the MMI display when the pairing process is complete.
  9. If your cell phone suggests a 6-digit PIN instead of a 4-digit PIN, confirm this PIN in the cell phone and the MMI to pair them.

Loading Contents From Your Phone

Once successfully connected, your cell phone contacts will automatically load in the MMI. This process may take several minutes, depending on the number of contacts. You can connect more than one phone to your Audi A4.
