How to set the Child Safety Locks in a Toyota Prius

Child safety is paramount when traveling with young passengers. Toyota Prius offers child safety lock features to protect your kids on the road. Follow this comprehensive guide to set the child safety locks in different Toyota Prius generations.

2022 – 2023 Models

  1. Locate the rear door controls on the driver’s side door panel.
  2. Identify the child lock symbol – an illustration of a child and a lock.
  3. Use the door panel buttons to toggle the child lock on or off.
  4. When the symbol is illuminated, the child safety lock is active, preventing the rear doors from being opened from the inside.

2015 – 2021 Models

  1. Open the rear door and look for the small switch near the latch.
  2. Slide the switch up to activate the child safety lock or down to deactivate it.
  3. Confirm that the switch is in the correct position by checking for the “Child Lock” label.
