PT Cruiser: How to Open the Hood

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to open the hood of a PT Cruiser for all model years from 2001-2010:

2001-2010 Models

1. Locate the hood release lever
   • 2001-2005 models, the hood release lever is on the left side of the steering wheel.
   • 2006-2010 models, located on the floor near the driver’s seat.
2. Pull the hood release lever until you hear a click
3. Locate the hood latch, the hood latch is located in the center of the grille.
4. Press down on the hood latch and lift the hood up.
5. Use the hood prop rod to hold the hood open.
6. When you are finished, return the prop rod back to its clip and lower the hood until there are 4-6 inches, and let it drop the rest of the way.
