The role of the oil change light notification is to inform you that your Ford Freestyle needs an oil change. While this is a crucial indication, sometimes the light might not go away even after an oil change. If you don’t have a problem with the light notification on your driver’s display panel, leaving it on can lead to incorrect data projection for your next service.
Fortunately, you do not need any special dealership or mechanical services if the oil light notification continues to show even after an oil change; you can reset it yourself. This guide shows you how.
2005 – 2009 Models
- Turn the ignition to the “ON” position.
- Locate and press the “Setup” button on the right side of your car’s steering wheel.
- You will see the notification “PRESS RESET TO CLEAR” on the driver’s display, press and hold the “Reset” button.
- After pressing and holding the reset button, you will see the mileage information. Press the “Setup” button until you see the “PRESS RESET FOR SYS CHCK” notification.
- Press and Hold the “Reset” button until the “IF NEW OIL HOLD RESET” notification appears.
- Hold the button until the oil life has been reset to 100% notification.
