Volkswagen Atlas: How to Connect a Phone

You may want to connect your phone to your car for various reasons. Be it for entertainment, or so you can pick up calls hands-free as you drive. It is a luxury you have to enjoy. The Volkswagen Atlas manufacturers know that and have decided to give you various methods to connect your phone. Let’s show you how:

2017 – 2023 Models

Using  Bluetooth

Bluetooth is the easiest way to connect your phone to a Volkswagen Atlas because it doesn’t require downloading more applications. The following are the steps to follow:

  1. Ensure the car is in park.
  2. Turn the car on.
  3. Turn on the radio to access the screen.
  4. Go to your phone settings, then Bluetooth, and select the VW BT to connect. (Ensure your phone is discoverable.)
  5. Select your phone on the list and make sure the PIN on the phone screen matches the one on the car screen.
  6. If the numbers match, press Pair on your phone.
  7. Then proceed to click Yes on the radio.

Using App-Connect

Apart from Bluetooth, you can use Android Auto to connect your phone to your Volkswagen Atlas. Here is how to go about it:

  1. Download the Android Auto app on your phone and install it. (Make sure to grant the app all permissions for ease of use.)
  2. Open the app on your phone and set it up.
  3. Connect your phone to the vehicle’s infotainment display via USB. (The USB ports are below the A/C controls.)
  4. The system will detect automatically and will ask for permission to access. (Allow and confirm the permissions to complete setup.)
  5. Once the setup is complete, use the touch screen to choose the app and enjoy your connected phone in your car.

Using Apple CarPlay

Apple users can connect their devices to the Volkswagen Atlas through Apple Carplay. The application is already preinstalled on your phone. To connect your phone, all you have to do is:

  1. Make sure the CarPlay and Siri are enabled on the phone.
  2. Plug a compatible iPhone into the USB data port.
  3. If prompted, hit connect on the phone.
  4. The app will display on the screen of the vehicle.

Using Mirror Link

The mirror link is available on select Android devices. Here is how to connect your phone to your car via the mirror link:

  1. Download the Mirror Link App on the phone.
  2. Connect your mobile device to your vehicle using a USB cable.
  3. Accept all notifications, and you are connected. (A dialogue box will show to confirm the same.)
  4. Apps compatible with the mirror link will appear on the infotainment screen. Select the Apps you want to use. (You can also use the voice command option.)
