Newer technologies make things fast and convenient—if they’re working correctly. Follow these steps to reset your system and gain access to your driving entertainment again.
2012 – 2022 Models
Your Tesla’s sound system is controlled by the touchscreen. To reset the sound system, you must also reboot the touchscreen device. Here’s how:
Soft Reset
- Park your car and ensure it is powered on.
- Press and hold both knobs on the steering wheel for about ten seconds.
- The touchscreen will go dark and take a few minutes to reboot.
Hard Reset
- Park your car and ensure it is powered on.
- Press and hold the brake with your foot.
- Simultaneously, press and hold both knobs on the steering wheel for about thirty seconds to a minute.
- The touchscreen will go dark and take a few minutes to reboot. This method briefly disconnects the system power from the car battery; you may lose some personal data.
