The child safety lock feature on the Toyota Corolla prevents the rear doors from being opened from the inside. That way, your child can’t open the doors while you’re driving your car. If you’re not sure how to turn this feature off or on, here are a few simple steps to follow for each model year.
2006 – 2023 Models
Note: The rear doors each have their own child safety lock device. Choose which door you want to set.

- Locate a small switch on the inside edge of the door.
- Move the switch down to turn on the child safety lock.
- Move the switch up to turn off the child safety lock.
2003 – 2006 Models
Note: The rear doors each have their own child safety lock device. Choose which door you want to set.
- To reset individual doors, press the interior door lock button located next to the door handle.
- Push the button forward to lock the door.
- Push the button back to unlock it.
Your child’s safety is important! If your child safety lock isn’t working, make sure you call your local Toyota dealership.
