Toyota Avalon: How To Reset The TPMS

If the Tire Pressure Management System in the Toyota Avalon is not working properly, you may have to reset the system. Follow these steps to re-initialize the TPMS. To reset the Warning Light Perform the following steps:

First, Check the Recommended Air Levels Needed

  • Refer to the Manufacturer’s Sticker located on the inside of the Driver’s door.
  • Fill each tire to the recommended PSI/air pressure levels.
  • Make sure the spare has the correct amount of air as well.

**In some models, there is a TPMS Reset button located under the dashboard to the lower LEFT of the steering wheel.

  • After all of the tires are filled, push in the RESET button. The light should disappear.
  • If it does not, drive the vehicle for a little while, to give the system time to Reset.

**If you do not have a TPMS Reset button, just drive the vehicle for a while after all tires have been inflated.

The TPMS warning light on your Toyota Avalon should be cleared. However, if the light remains illuminated, keep in mind after tires are inflated, the outdoor temperature affects how fast the air in the tires will adjust to the proper temperature, this could take minutes, a day, 2 or 3, simply be patient and give the tires time to adjust. In addition, if the tire pressure warning light stays illuminated past a week, you will need to have your vehicle serviced as there could possibly be a sensor issue or a tire puncture.

FACT! Always keep a tire pressure gauge close by to check your tires just in case the warning light comes on again.

NOTE: If you are unable to Reset the Tire Pressure Warning Light on the first try, REPEAT the steps. If you are still unsuccessful, contact the dealership for assistance or consult your vehicle user’s manual.
