Nissan Altima: How to Reset Engine Oil Service Due Now

Learn how to reset the “Engine Oil Service due now” notification message on the Nissan Altima with this tutorial.

2019-2023 Models

  1. Turn the ignition on, but do not start the engine.
  2. Select “OK” if you need to clear the message.
  3. Use the “Right” arrow button to go over to the Gear icon on the far right side.
  4. Use the “Up” and “Down” arrow buttons on the steering wheel to toggle the selection to “Maintenance.”
  5. Press the “OK” button on the steering wheel to go into the “Maintenance” menu.
  6. Use the “Up” and “Down” arrows to toggle the selection to “Oil Control System.”
  7. Press the “OK” button to choose “Reset.”
  8. Use the “Down” arrow to highlight “Yes.”
  9. Press the “OK” button, and the Service Due Now light will be reset.

2013-2018 Models

Option 1

  1. Turn the ignition on, but do not start the engine.
  2. Repeatedly press the Nissan Page Button button to toggle to the “Vehicle Settings” screen.
  3. Use the arrow buttons to toggle the selection to “Maintenance,” then press the “Enter” button to enter that screen.
  4. From the “Maintenance” screen, use the arrow buttons to toggle the selection to “Service,” then press the “Enter” button to enter that screen.
  5. From the “Service” screen, use the arrow buttons to toggle the selection to “Reset.”
  6. Press “Enter” to reset the engine oil light.

Option 2

  1. Press the square button on the left-hand side of the steering wheel to scroll to the Settings menu.
  2. Use the tab button to scroll down to Maintenance.
  3. Press the tab to Enter.
  4. Scroll down to Oil and Filter.
  5. Press Enter.
  6. Scroll down to Reset.
  7. Press Enter.
  8. Scroll up to Yes to confirm the reset, and press Enter.

2007 – 2012 Models

  1. Press the square button on the left side of the dash until you reach the Settings menu.
  2. Press the circle button to scroll over to Maintenance.
  3. Press the square button.
  4. Scroll over to Engine Oil.
  5. Press the square button.
  6. Scroll to Reset.
  7. Press the square button.
  8. Press the circle button.
  9. When the first number is highlighted, press the square button.
  10. Scroll to Back and press the square button.
  11. Scroll to Oil Filter and press the square button.
  12. Scroll to Reset and press the square button.
  13. Press the circle button.
  14. When the first number is highlighted, press the square button.

1993 – 2006 Models

  1. Turn the car ON without turning on the engine.
  2. Wait 3 seconds.
  3. Push the gas pedal 5x within 5 seconds.
  4. Remove your foot from the gas pedal and wait 7 seconds.
  5. Push and hold the gas pedal for 10 seconds. The Service Engine Soon or SES light will start flashing.
  6. Release the gas pedal. The SES light will continue to blink.
  7. Turn the key off and then restart the car. The SES light should be off.

If you are unable to reset the oil change notification light on the first try, REPEAT the steps. If you are still unsuccessful, contact the dealership for assistance or consult your vehicle user’s manual.
