Ford Explorer: How To Set The Clock

Setting the clock in your Ford Explorer is required after every battery change and for some models if you travel to a different time zone. Following the instructions for the year that best fits your vehicle below, here are the uncomplicated steps to set the time on the clock.

2021 – 2023 Models

  1. Turn the ignition key to the “On” position, but do not start the engine.
  2. Locate the “Settings” button on the touchscreen display.
  3. Select “Time and Date.”
  4. Use the “+” and “-” buttons to set the hour and minutes.​
  5. Select “Set Time” to finish setting the clock.
  6. Press the “Back” button to exit the clock setting mode.

**The correct time should now appear on your home screen. If so, YOU ARE ALL SET!

2011 – 2020 Models

  1. Turn the ignition key to the “On” position, but do not start the engine.
  2. Locate the “Menu” button on the touchscreen display.
  3. Select “Settings,” then “Time,” and then “Clock.”
  4. Use the “+” and “-” buttons to set the hour and minutes.
  5. Select “Set Time” to finish setting the clock.
  6. Press the “Menu” button to exit the clock setting mode.

2006- 2010

  1. With your vehicle in the ON position without starting the engine. 
  2. Press the MENU button to highlight the HOUR.
  3. Use the UP and DOWN arrows to enter the HOUR.
  4. Press the MENU button again to highlight SET MINUTES.
  5. Use the UP and DOWN arrows to enter the MINUTES.
  6. Press the MENU button one last time to finalize your chosen time.

2005

  1. With your vehicle in the ON position without starting the engine. 
  2. Press the MENU button to locate the SELECT HOUR.
  3. Press the UP and DOWN SEL arrows to set the HOUR.
  4. Press the MENU button again to locate SELECT MINS.
  5. Press the UP and DOWN SEL arrows to set the MINUTES.

1995-2004

  1. With your vehicle in the ON position without starting the engine. 
  2. Press and HOLD the CLK button while at the SAME time pressing the right or left of the SEEK button to input the HOUR.
  3. Continue to press and HOLD the CLK button while at the SAME time pressing the right or left of the TUNE button to input the MINUTES.
  4. Release the CLK button to finish.

FAQS

What if my vehicle has a digital navigation screen?

Turning on the GPS TIME will allow the system to automatically adjust your time dependent on your present location. This feature will change your clock when you cross into a different time zone.

NOTE: If you are unable to set the Time on the first try, REPEAT the steps. If you are still unsuccessful, contact the dealership for assistance or consult your vehicle user’s manual.
