How to use the Factory Remote Start
If your key FOB has a “circle arrow” button at the top (see image), your Impala is likely equipped with a factory-installed remote start! Here’s how to use it:
2013 – 2023 Models
- On the keyfob, press lock.
- Press and hold the circling arrow button on your keyfob for 2-4 seconds.
2006 – 2012 Models
- On the keyfob, press lock.
- Immediately press and hold the circle arrow button for 5 seconds.
- You’ll notice the front and rear blinkers blink twice; in a few moments, your Impala will be running!
- When you’re ready to drive, simply put the key in the ignition and turn it to the “On” position.
NOTE: This feature is not available for the 2000 – 2005 models.
Troubleshooting
My Impala was already locked, but the remote start isn’t working. Do I have to re-lock it?
Even if your Impala has been sitting locked in the parking lot all day, you must re-lock it for the remote start to work!
Why did my car stop running after I used my remote start?
If you don’t put the key in the ignition (step 4), your Impala will stop running after 10 minutes.
My A/C and Heat are only running on high. What should I do?
Your air conditioner or heating will run on high until your put your key in the ignition (step 4).

I followed the steps and it said tire learning active. What do I have to do
No Idea what that means, but when I first tried it, it didn’t work. Then one day when I was messing around and looking at the options in the checklist setting thing, I came across a “Remote Start” option and saw that it was OFF.
Once I changed that to ON I found that the steps here actually worked
Couldn’t get mine to work either, then a friend told me if your check engine light is on it won’t work.
Have you checked the engine light on theory yet, mine won’t start either but it seems to want to try, lights blink, can hear something going on but it won’t start
Seems to be true. My check engine light is on and my remote start doesn’t work either. Same thing as u. Lights flash and it acts like it wants to but nothing happens.

Do you have your heating position in off when you turn your car off?
The A/C in your car has to already have been turned on the last time you drove it, and you must leave it on when you turn off the engine. Then it will be ready when you want to remote start your car!
I have a 2006 chevy impala. I just got it. And my check engine light is on. My lights come on but won’t start. Does anyone know how to fix this.

To reset the check engine light in a chevy impala you will need to use an obd 2 scan tool to find the source of the check engine light and then clear the code. or take it to an auto part store like AutoZone and ask cuz they do a free OBD 2 check for free or……………..
So, you’re certain that you need to know how to reset a check engine light at home. On some models, turning the car on and off several times may be enough to do the trick. Start the car, let it run for one second, and then turn it off. Let the engine sit quietly for two to three seconds, and then repeat the whole process two more times.
If this doesn’t work, it’s not necessarily proof that there’s a deeper problem at play. Your next test involves disconnecting the negative battery cable and forcing your electronic systems (and your in-vehicle diagnostics) to perform a hard reset. Here’s what’s involved:
1. Kill the ignition, and put on safety gear.
2. Locate the negative terminal, which usually has a black cap and a negative/minus symbol on top.
3. To remove the cable, loosen the nut with a wrench before pulling the negative connector away from the battery.
4. Make sure to keep the negative battery cable secure after it’s removed, so it doesn’t touch the other terminal or create sparks. Hold it to the side for a minute or more.
5. Reconnect the negative cable, being careful as you go. Tighten the top with your wrench, and make sure the cap is back where it should be.
All that’s left is to go on a drive near Cherry Hill! If you don’t see the check engine light as soon as you turn the key, the process was successful. If it turns on again after you start driving, there’s a deeper issue that deserves a closer look.
My 2006 won’t start remotely from a distance. Must be beside the car.
