Tesla plans to wind down Cybertruck production in Texas around mid-2027 to make more Cybercabs, Elon Musk says. That manufacturing shift leads this week’s news, alongside Toyota’s RAV4 charging updates, Mitsubishi’s upcoming Diamond Trail Outlander, BMW’s new 3 Series production milestone, and Porsche’s infotainment rollout.

Tesla plans to wind down Cybertruck production in Texas

Tesla’s angular electric pickup is headed for a production wind-down at its Texas factory. On November 6, CEO Elon Musk said the company would reduce Cybertruck production around the middle of 2027 to accommodate more Cybercab output.

Reuters reports the announcement as a substantial retreat for the pickup, whose customer deliveries began in late 2023. The stated reason is a shift in factory capacity toward Tesla’s purpose-built robotaxi.

Electrek independently reports the same timing and reproduces Musk’s statement. Neither that statement nor the announced schedule means Cybertruck production has already stopped.

There is also a limit to what has been confirmed. Reuters says it was not immediately clear whether Tesla would move production elsewhere or phase the model out entirely. The concrete development is the planned Texas wind-down; the announcement leaves that relocation question unresolved. It nevertheless marks a major change in the future of a high-profile consumer vehicle as Tesla prioritizes autonomous transport.

The 2027 Toyota RAV4 adds NACS charging and a taller Woodland

Toyota’s November 5 U.S. announcement brings two practical changes to the RAV4: more charging equipment on plug-in hybrids and revised suspension on the Woodland.

Every 2027 plug-in hybrid grade gets a driver-side NACS port, DC fast-charging capability, and an 11-kW onboard AC charger. The AC rating describes the car’s equipment; actual charging speed also depends on the power source and conditions.

The Woodland receives new springs, shocks, and jounce bumpers, raising ground clearance to 9.1 inches. It remains available with either a conventional hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrain, with all-wheel drive standard. These changes build on the sixth-generation RAV4 rather than introducing another redesign.

Toyota expects U.S. hybrid arrivals later in 2026 and plug-in hybrids in early 2027. Starting MSRPs are $32,300 for the hybrid LE with front-wheel drive and $42,100 for the plug-in hybrid SE, excluding delivery, processing, and handling.

For broader context, HiRide’s hybrid SUV fuel-economy comparison separates conventional hybrids from plug-ins and identifies the model years and drivetrains behind its rankings. Its 2026 RAV4 figures should not be read as a complete specification sheet for this 2027 update.

Mitsubishi gives the Outlander Diamond Trail functional off-road changes

Mitsubishi’s SEMA display previews a North American Outlander Diamond Trail Edition planned for the first half of 2027. Its November 4 product announcement describes changes beyond dark trim and outdoor accessories.

Reworked bumpers increase the stated approach angle from 18.3 to 20.5 degrees and departure angle from 22.2 to 23.1 degrees. All-terrain tires and model-specific four-wheel-drive and traction-control tuning accompany a new Rock mode, the first in the Outlander range. Hill Descent Control helps regulate speed downhill.

The release describes the North American Outlander’s 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and 48-volt mild-hybrid system. A mild hybrid should not be confused with the separately named Outlander plug-in hybrid.

There is also an important distinction between the upcoming model and the customized show vehicles. The adventure and overlanding builds wear 1.5-inch and 2.5-inch suspension lifts respectively; Mitsubishi does not identify those display-build lifts as standard Diamond Trail equipment. Pricing and a precise dealership arrival date are still absent from this announcement.

BMW confirms the new 3 Series is in production at Dingolfing

BMW said on November 3 that series production of its eighth-generation 3 Series sedan had begun that week at Dingolfing, Germany. The factory announcement marks a production milestone for a previously revealed car.

Dingolfing builds combustion-engine versions, with plug-in hybrids due to follow in 2027. The all-electric BMW i3 is assigned to Munich. Sharing Neue Klasse design and technology therefore does not mean the new 3 Series sedan and electric i3 come from the same assembly plant.

The sedan brings BMW Panoramic iDrive, a new electrical and electronic architecture, and new driver-assistance systems into an existing manufacturing operation. It shares a flexible assembly line with 4 Series and 5 Series models. A new body-shop line was installed inside the existing building, with roughly one-third of its approximately 750 robots reused from other production facilities.

BMW plans a staged market launch beginning in the first quarter of 2027. That global timetable does not establish a particular U.S. trim’s delivery date or price. The release also does not identify the exact day of the production start within the week.

Porsche rolls out faster infotainment with an AI voice assistant

Porsche is introducing a new generation of Porsche Communication Management for newly produced 911, Taycan, Panamera, and Cayenne models. In its November 3 Netherlands announcement, the company says the new hardware provides up to five times the computing power of the previous generation.

The intended benefits are quicker startup, faster app switching, and smoother operation when several applications remain active. Porsche Digital Interaction adds configurable widgets and a rotatable three-dimensional vehicle display for accessing selected settings.

An AI-based Voice Pilot is designed to handle natural-language instructions, requests involving multiple steps, and follow-up questions. Navigation gains a new 3D map view, while electric models’ charging planner accounts for charging stops and battery preconditioning.

This is a hardware rollout with software support, not a promise that an existing Porsche will gain the new computer through an over-the-air update. Porsche says availability varies by market, model, production date, and equipment. Its regional announcement does not supply a universal U.S. changeover date, so buyers comparing inventory with a factory order will need the specification of the actual vehicle.
