Kia Forte: How to Reset The Oil Change Due Light

After each oil change and new filter, the maintenance oil light indicator, or the service interval, should be reset for effective performance. This indicator is included to alert you if there is a problem with the vehicle’s oil, whereof, if not addressed, can lead to other unexpected costly engine issues. However, if the light does NOT disappear automatically, simply implement the following actions step by step.

2008 – 2023 Models

Option 1

  1. Insert the key into the ignition without starting the engine.
  2. Locate the menu button on the right side of the steering wheel.
  3. Scroll down to SERVICE REMINDER within your dash digital screen.
  4. Hold down the OK button until the mileage resets.
  5. The service light should be cleared.

Option 2

  1. Insert the key into the ignition without starting the engine.
  2. Use the menu button located on the right side of the steering wheel to scroll down to MILEAGE.
  3. Input desired miles for your next oil change.

Option 3 – Manual Reset

  1. Insert the key into the ignition without starting the engine.
  2. Find the menu button located on the right side of the steering wheel.
  3. Scroll down to RESET, and Press OK.
  4. You will see “Reset to factory default.” Press YES, then OK.
  5. The screen will read “Settings Reset” to signify a successful reset.

NOTE: If you are unable to reset the oil change due light on the Kia Forte on the first try, repeat the steps. If you are still unsuccessful, contact the dealership for assistance or consult your vehicle user’s manual.
