Dodge Charger: How to Replace Key Fob Battery

Wondering how to take apart the Dodge Charger key fob remote so you can replace the battery? Follow these step-by-step instructions.

2021 – 2023 Models

  1. Locate the small release button or tab on the back or side of the key fob.
  2. Use a small flathead screwdriver to press the release button or pry open the tab gently.
  3. Carefully separate the two halves of the key fob case to reveal the battery compartment.
  4. Remove the old battery taking note of the battery type and orientation.
  5. Insert the new battery with the same type and orientation as the old one.
  6. Carefully snap the two halves of the key fob case back together.

2020 Models

The Charger remote start shown below utilizes one DL2032 battery. Other models of Dodge starters may be similar.

Note: The CR2025 type lithium battery is used in the newer and different-looking key fobs.

1. Turn the key fob over to find the slide button. Slide this left and pull out the key.

2. Locate the small gap on the top next to the hole the key came out of.

3. Start to pry open the case. A quarter works well for this part.

4. Now you can see the battery and remove it.

5. You can now replace the battery. The flat, positive side of the battery should be face down so you can’t read the words on the back.

6. Reverse these steps to put the key fob back together, and you’re set.

2015 – 2019 Models

  1. Use a screwdriver to open the key fob by inserting it at the notch at the top and twisting it.
  2. Locate the battery inside the key fob and use the screwdriver to remove the old battery.
  3. Replace the old battery with a new one, inserting it with the positive side down.
  4. Snap the key fob back together.
