How to Use Cruise Control on the Hyundai Elantra

Relax a bit and use the cruise control feature on the Hyundai Elantra using these instructions.

2000 – 2023 Models

  1. Activate the System: Locate the cruise control buttons on the right side, near the lower part of the steering wheel or the steering column. Look for buttons labeled “CRUISE” or with the cruise control symbol.
  2. Set the Speed: While driving at your desired speed (above 25 mp), press the “On,” “Cruise,” “Set,” or “Set/Coast” buttons to activate the cruise control system.
  3. Adjust Speed: To increase or decrease your cruising speed, use the “Set +” or “Set -“ buttons on the steering wheel.
    • Model years 2006 – 2009 use the “Accelerate/Resume” buttons to raise the speed and the “Set/Coast” to lower the speed.
    • Model years 2000 – 2005 use the buttons “Accelerate” or “Res+” to raise the speed and the “Decelerate” or “Set-“ to lower the speed.
  4. Resume Function: If you need to deactivate the cruise control temporarily, press the “Resume” or “Resume/Accel” button. This will reactivate the cruise control at the previously set speed.
  5. Cancel or Turn Off: Press the “Cancel” or “Off” button or lightly tap the brake pedal. This will disengage the system and allow you to resume manual control of the vehicle’s speed.

1995 – 1999 Models

The Hyundai Elantra models from 1995 to 1999 are not equipped with factory-installed cruise control.
